Batting right-handed and occasionally bowling right-arm medium speed, she appeared in five Test matches for Australia between the years 1998 and 2003, scoring a total of 251 runs with her best performance being 131 runs scored on her debut match against England in August 1998.
Jones was the 134th woman to compete for Australia in a Test match of cricket. Additionally, she has participated in 61 One Day Internationals for Australia, during which she has scored a total of 1028 runs while maintaining an average in the low twenties.
Between the years 1994 and 1997, Jones competed in limited overs cricket for both the Lancashire and Cheshire Women cricket team, which has since folded, and the Surrey County Women’s team in England “the years 2003 and 2004 for the U.S. cricket team.
She participated in 122 matches for the Victorian Spirit in the Australian Women’s National Cricket League, and subsequently she played five matches for the Tasmanian Roar in the Women’s Twenty20 Cricket competition.

In 2007, Cricket Australia put forth Jones’s name as a potential commentator for the women’s Twenty20 international match, which was aired by Australia “s Channel 9.
Since then, Jones has offered her thoughts on various aspects of women “s internationals that are covered by Channel 9, in addition to providing commentary for men’s and women’s games that are broadcast on the radio by the American Broadcasting Company.
In 2015, it was revealed that Jones would be one of four female commentators covering the Indian Premier League. Jones was one of the commentators.
Later in the year 2015, Jones became a part of the coverage of the Women’s History Month premiere on Channel 10 “in addition to providing commentary on the boundaries of the field during the 2015-2016 season of the Big Bash League.
