In 2012, she and her husband Jay O. Sanders made their Off-Broadway Public Theatre debut in the play Sorry by Richard Nelson. The piece was performed by the Public Theatre.
Because of her performance in “Barbara Apple,” she was considered for the Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play category of the 2013 Drama Desk Awards.
Barbara Apple was a character that Plunkett played in all of Nelson’s “Apple Family” plays, including the other ones.

Jay O. Sanders is an American actor who has worked in film, stage, and television. He is most recognised for his work in movies.
JFK, The Day After Tomorrow, Tumbleweeds, Glory, Green Lantern, Angels in the Outfield, Half Nelson, Cadillac Records, and Revolutionary Road are some of the movies that can be found in his filmography.
Sanders has performed on Broadway in Loose Ends, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Saint Joan, Pygmalion, and Girl From the North Country.
He has also starred on television in Crime Story, Roseanne, Person of Interest, Sneaky Pete, and True Detective.
In addition, he has been seen in a number of Shakespearean productions that have been shown off-Broadway, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Titus Andronicus.
