Kate Cross: Who is She?

Kate Cross was quick to impress everyone when she made history by becoming the first woman to play in the central Lancashire League. If that wasn’t enough, she went onto register incredible figures of 3-19 on debut and 8-47 later in the season.

The right arm seam bowler made her international debut in England’s tour of West Indies in October 2013. Her Test debut came a few months later against Australia in which she returned match figures of 7-70.

Cross was one of two English imports for the 2014-15 Women’s Brisbane Heat team. She later played for Perth Scorchers too.

Outside of cricket, Cross is also an ambassador for Chance to Shine, a charity devoted to helping kids with education and leadership qualities.

Kate Cross: Bio

Kate Cross, a fast bowler who made history by becoming the first female cricketer to be allowed into the Lancashire Academy in 2006, had to wait so long to make her England debut that she seriously considered giving up the sport entirely.

She was called up to the England squad during their tour of Australia in 2011, but she had to wait over two years before she could go onto the pitch in an England shirt. That finally happened in October 2013 in the West Indies.

However, the wait was well worth it since in her very first over of bowling in international cricket, she completely devastated the West Indies top order by taking four wickets for fifty-one runs and earning the title of Player of the Match.

Her first Test match, which took place in early 2014 in Perth, was just as memorable. Stepping up to take the new ball on the third evening, her speed and accuracy led to the dismissal of three of Australia’s top order batsmen, which sent the Australians into a tailspin and played a significant role in England’s victory.

The final score for Cross’s performance in the match was 6 for 70.

Kate Cross: Parents

Kate Cross is the daughter of David Cross, a former footballer who won the FA Cup. She began playing cricket at the age of eight for the Heywood Cricket Club, and since she was selected for the Lancashire Women’s senior side at the age of just 13, she has been regarded as a potential player for England for a long time.

In April of 2015, she made headlines when she became the first woman to play in the Central Lancashire League for Heywood.

She finished the season with a career-best 8 for 47 wickets, which followed her performance in which she became the first woman to play in the league.

In May of 2014, Cross received one of the first full-time professional contracts for the country of England after graduating from Leeds University.

She has experienced success in both the Test and ODI formats, despite having to compete for a spot in the side with Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole.

She took a match haul of 6 for 71 in the 2014 Test against India, and she claimed her first international five-wicket haul against New Zealand at Lincoln in February 2015.

Her weaknesses, on the other hand, are seen to lie in the longer formats of the game, which is why England did not include her in their squad for the World T20 in 2016.

She was given a spot on the national squad for their trip to the West Indies in October 2013, and she went. During the Twenty20 international series against the West Indies, she made her first appearance for her country. Her first official match was played against the same team as her debut. She was named player of the match after her performance in the second game of the series, in which she took a four-wicket haul.

Cross was selected for the Ashes squad in 2014, and she played her first ever test match in Perth, Australia.

She was instrumental in her team’s victory in the one-off Ashes Test by claiming six wickets. She made history by becoming the first woman to compete in the Central Lancashire League in April of 2015.

She was one of Brisbane Heat’s two overseas players when they were called upon to participate in the Big Bash in the year 2015. During the 2018 season of the Women’s Big Bash League, she was a member of the Perth Scorchers.

She was selected to be a part of England’s squad for the Ashes series that was played in England in 2019. She will represent England at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020, and she has been selected for the team.
